We are sad to lose Ruth. I met Ruth in the peer to peer support group at Beaumont and invited her to come to Angel Pillow. Ruth came and like to sit and stuff pillows with us on a regular basis until she became ill. It was nice that many of our pillows angels were able to attend her services and several ladies spoke about their friendship with Ruth. It was nice to hear from her family members and learn some things about Ruth that I did not know. Ruth was queen bee! Her brother mentioned meeting her at the cross roads one day where she had traded in her cross for a crown. I can only imagine Ruth up in heaven wearing her rightful crown and a Christ follower and believer. We will miss her and her radiant smile.

This was the 10th anniversary of Gila's club Bras for a cause. I have come to the event for a few years but this was the first time I was a model. Tresse designed my bra and it was called Lit. It had lights on it and we added lights to my skirt and shoes. It was a really fun event to attend. There were about 30 breast cancer survivors this year and it was fun getting to know them. It was also nice to be able to support Tresse and show off her creative spirt by wearing the bra she designed. We have been hosting our Angel Pillow classes at Gilda's for over 5 years so it was nice to be able to participate in a fundraiser for them. Tour de Pink. What an amazing experience! I decided to celebrate my birthday this year raising money for YSC (Young Survival Coalition), a breast cancer organization for young women diagnosed with breast cancer. The challenge: ride 200 miles over 3 days and raise $2,500 dollars to benefit young breast cancer survivors. It turned out to be an unforgettable adventure and I was able to meet a lot of young survivors to create lasting lifelong friendships with survivors across the country. We are still sewing pillows every month at Gilda's Club. Please come and join us the second Monday of each month from 12-2. This week we will be having a Valentine's potluck. We are looking forward to seeing you!
Bloom where you are Planted! We have had a busy summer. We moved to New Jersey and I have been busy unpacking and getting the kids ready for their new schools in the fall. I hope to continue to keep The Angel Pillow Project going in Michigan at Gilda's Club. I am also looking to start a new chapter here in New Jersey. I have contacted a few of the local hospitals and breast cancer organizations. I hope to have something going soon. I will keep you posted! |
